Description of Hyperstudio

HyperStudio is an interactive multimedia authoring tool. The documents are called stacks. Each stack is comprised of individual cards - based on the concept of using 3- X 5-inch index cards. The user can create buttons and objects on cards that will trigger other events. The buttons, objects, and the cards themselves can easily be programmed to take users to another card, to another stack, or to another program. One can make their project more appealing and interactive by incorporating video, sounds, and graphics into the stacks. The most recent version of HyperStudio even allows you to digitize video. If using a laserdisc player, HyperStudio will display the laserdisc track on the monitor (rather than an extra television monitor). The newest version also will go out to the Internet to retrieve resources to include in the stack. Students also enjoy working with the frame- and path-based animation features of HyperStudio. The program includes clip art images, paint tools, sound samples, frame and path-based animation, real-time video digitizing, ready-made templates, storyboard editor, and an illustrated manual. Hyperstudio allows learners of all ages to organize, create and demonstrate information.

This authoring program has been related to many of the Multiple Intelligences and Constructivist Learning. Hyperstudio has won many national educational awards and inclusion in the Florida State adopted Software Catalog for many years.
