the ability to notice, think about, and work with the individual sounds in spoken words** the relationships between the letters of written language and the individual sounds of spoken language, and the ability to use these relationships to read and write words** the ability to read a text accurately and quickly** the words we must know to communicate effectively** understanding what is read or read to you; must be developed** the act of creating written works
