Resources for The Cay, by Theodore Taylor

When I was teaching, we had a great time reading The Cay. Some of themes that can be taught with this book are Hurricanes, World War II, Racial Tolerance, and Survival. I will never forget the student that came up to me after we finished reading the book and said that it was the first chapter book he had ever finished. This was an eighth-grade class! The students fought over the sequel, Timothy of the Cay.
