NY Times - http://www.nytimes.com/learning/
The New York Times has earned a reputation for delivering "all the news that's fit to print". Their news site for kids contains up-to-the-minute, in-depth summaries of important stories, as well as crossword puzzles and a news IQ quiz.

Time for Kids - http://www.timeforkids.com
Time for Kids (TFK) has up-to-date stories, along with games and polls. There are also links to many other Time-related magazines and services.

BBC - http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/

Corporation (BBC). Learn what songs are hot, and see what they are saying about the USA "over there".

Scholastic's Newszone - http://teacher.scholastic.com/scholasticnews/
Read the news and let Lou the Newsguy read it to you. This site has a log of interesting pictures and articles written just for kids.

Newseum.org - http://www.newseum.org
This is the web site for a museum that is all about news. You'll find a collection of some of the best winning pictures that get into the news, editorial cartoons, and a behind-the-scenes look at how newspapers work in the Cyber Newseum. Explore the Holocaust, Berlin Wall, War Stories, and Stories of the Century exhibits. [Note: There is a note that the museum will close in March so that it can move to Washington, D.C. I assume the web site will remain active.]

PBS - http://www.pbs.org/newshour/extra
This site allows you to read stories written by children who live in countries where freedom of speech is not permitted. Find out about important topics like fighting terrorism. Meet Soira and learn about her life in Uzbekistan.
