The house of math word problems for children. The goal of this web site is to help grade school children improve their math problem-solving skills. Advanced Math Resources

Calculator Pattern Puzzles
Originally planned for gifted students, but tried and adapted for heterogeneous classrooms, where it can also be very successful. Students will recognize and explore the patterns based on their current concept level with numbers. First and Second Graders will instantly make connections to the idea of multiplication. Third Graders will refine and extend that same concept.

Money

Look Who's Footing the Bill!
I mentioned webquests last year. I think they are a great, well-organized way to integrate the Internet into the classroom. This webquest uses budget simulations and a National Debt clock to help high school students better understand the concept and write to their congressmen in response. Just another fine example of how the webquest format is revolutionizing how we can teach and how children learn.

Moneyopolis
This site is sponsored by Ernst & Young LLP (a financial planning company). It is designed to teach financial planning skills to middle school students. The site provides lesson plans, as well as a game in which students must manage a sum of money as they consider debt, interest, saving, investing, and so on.
