Plane Math - http://www.planemath.com/planemathmain.html
This began as an Internet-Based Curriculum on Math and Aeronautics for
Children with Physical Disabilities. It is a really interesting and fun web
site that has flight-themed math problems and activities that help kids
practice their math skills.
NOVA Online Activities - http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/hotscience
All of NOVA's online activities are archived by categories, such as
Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Disasters, Earth, Exploration, Flight,
Forensics, Health, History, Nature, Physics & Math, Space, and Technology.
Tramline Virtual Field Trips - http://www.tramline.com/trips.htm
These virtual field trips guide you through a sequence of Web pages on any
given topic. For each page, there is simultaneous commentary in an
accompanying frame. You move forward and back through the Field Trip using
the tour Control Panel and you can leave the Tour to explore links and
return to it whenever you want. This is a great way to take a field trip to
places you are able to visit in person. Just a few of the trips are: Flight,
Iditarod, Lewis & Clark, Hurricanes, Baking Bread, etc.
100 YEARS OF FLIGHT
Orville and Wilbur Wright flew the first man-powered aircraft for the first
time on December 17, 1903. They will be celebrating this anniversary in
Kitty Hawk, NC next week. Here are some web sites you can use as resources
if you want to discuss this in your classroom. I've included the sites I
gave last spring (with corrections). There are a LOT of sites here. Check
them out and find the ones most appropriate for your objectives. Some are
focused on the Wright Brothers, while others are more about flight in
general. There are a few "kid" sites and some include teacher materials.
