I wrote a little something for the kids to perform as a culminating activity.
Each child dressed up as a
character and read their poem.
Mr Arable
Hey I'm Mr Arable
I own a great big ax
I had planned to kill that pig
And that is just a fact
He's now at Uncle Homer's
A miraculous pig you see
That spider keeps on writing
And making a fool of me.
Zuckerman
Hey my name is Zuckerman
I own that famous pig
I took him to the big state fair
I didn't win a thing
Instead I won a medal
Which helped me to decide
I wouldn't turn that humble pig
Into a pork surprise
Charlotte
Hey, my name is Charlotte
The book's named after me
I'm no ordinary spider
For I can read you see
I have a friend named Wilbur
I had to save his life
My web of words was magic
The farmer spared his life
Wilbur
Hey my name is Wilbur
The runt of the litter is me
Since I was so small
The ax was to fall
Until Fern decided to raise me
Fern
Hey my name is Fern
I have a special gift
I can talk to animals
And Wilbur was my pick
Charlotee's been a friend to him
Of that you can be sure
She even got that nasty rat
To be an errand boy
Templeton
Hey my name is Templeton
I'm a great big nasty rat
My only care is what I'll eat
And how I can get fat
Avery
Hey my name is Avery
My sister's name is Fern
My pocket's full of treasures
Watch how they jump and squirm
Sheep
Hey I'm just an old sheep
I've been around a while
Wilbur's in big trouble
As he sleeps upon that pile
I told him of the danger
that awaited him
He went into a frenzy
His future's looking dim.
Goose
I'm the goose oose oose
My goslings finally hatched
We'll have to watch that Templeton
To be sure he won't attack
Templeton took my rotten egg
Buried it under the trough
that rottten egg exploded
and scared that Avery off
Babies
We are Charlotte's children
We stayed with mama's friend
We know that Wilbur loves us
We'll do anything for him.
